Okay,
Peeps, here’s the deal. Sunday morning, March 5th,
a few hardy - or is that foolhardy - will be meeting to carrying
on a tradition. (Can something that’s only happened on one
previous occasion be said to be a tradition?) We’re going to
getting together in front of the PlayaInfo Beach webcam, at
dawn, to greet the new day and do a group wave for all those
poor Peeps who are stuck back home, green with envy that we’re
on the beach in Playa, and they’re not. (Nyah, nyah, nyah,
nyah, nyah!!)
Since dawn
comes at about 5:45 AM at this time of year in Playa, this
venture will involve a certain degree of commitment on the part
of the participants. (We won’t go into the question of whether
or not this whole group should be committed on a permanent basis
or not. That’s a matter for another day.) Anyway, for last
year’s inaugural Reveille Revelry Sunrise Celebration, the
majority of this brain-dead, semi-conscious bunch met at Casa
Bumper for their ration of the fabled,
stand-your-spoon-up-in-it, I-won’t-sleep-again-until-April,
Specialite-de-Maison, Manitoba-Mud-In-A-Mug coffee, liberally
laced with a little something from the Emerald Isle. This same
service will be extended for this second edition of the event.
Just make an appearance at Las Palmas Condominiums, corner of
Avenida 10 & Calle 26 for your eye-opener. However, if you
choose to get an extra few minutes sleep, or the thought of the
coffee has you sceeered, just meet us at the Beachcam about 5:45
AM. While the primary focus of this activity is sun related, who
knows if a moon or two might appear?
After the
group wave has been completed, I suggest we head down the beach,
make a lefty at 38th, and make our way up the street
to the thoroughly delightful breakfast place, La Cueva del
Chango. You’ve undoubtedly read in many posts about what a
terrific spread this restaurant puts on for breakfast. They have
a diverse and delicious menu. (The food, not the actual menu.)
Freshly squeezed juices, numerous egg dishes, granola, etc.
We’ll likely have some time to kill since they don’t open
until 8:00 AM. Be warned, this is not a huge restaurant, and so
it’s first come, first served. We’ll be sure to have a life
guard in attendance, in case a Peep who is not used to being up
this early dozes off and does a face plant in their yogurt.
So there it
is. A plan for early morning, Sunday, March 5th. See
ya’ there. And you wanna’ keep the noise down? Some of us
will still be sleeping. Oh, we’ll be there, and likely
vertical, but sleeping.
